This blog post is all about Summer fun activities for moms to do with their toddlers/children.

Summer is the best and sometimes the hardest time for mamas, especially the mamas of children who are school-aged and usually in preschool/day school. The days are warmer, and outside time with your little people is the best. In the same breath, I say, it’s hard to be home with your littles all day and find ways to entertain them. We don’t always want our little people in front of a screen; we want them to be learning through fun and making the most of their summer days. I think I can help you create some summer fun for you and your toddlers/ little people, mama. There are so many things we can be doing to enjoy our summer fun. From nature walks, to chalk on the driveway or sidewalk, to parks and water fun. We can make the summer fun possibilities endless! I’m here to help you create the ultimate summer bucket list.

This blog post is about summer fun activities for moms with toddlers/children, things to do in the summer with toddlers/children, and at home summer activities.

Summer Fun Activities

1. Water Bins Sensory Play

Some thing about kids and water, well at least my kids and water – they are OBSESSED. Any oppurtunity they have to play in water whether it be washing their hands, brushing their teeth, or purposely getting left over yogurt all over so they HAVE TO spend time playing in the sink. Water bins can be so inexpemsive. Any box, bin or plastic container you have that can be filled with water is perfect for a water sensory activity. You can even use your kitchen mixing bowls or pots and pans! Here are my favorite water bins. Purchase some $1 minituare figurines, sea animals, even your bbies favorite super hero and tell your little that they can take their toys swimming – your gold. It should keep your babes occupied for st least any hour. Bonus points if you throw some dish soap in the water and let the babes play with it outside so they can get it all over the place, cool down, and give mama a sit down break! Here are the perfect figurines that i purchased on amazon for my babes.

2. Sidewalk Chalk

purchase on amazon!

Perfect way to help your kindergardner practice their name in the sun! Write sight words, the alphabet, and if youre really artsy – draw your kids favorite cartoon in the driveway or on the sidewalk with sidewalk chalk! Fun, extremeley affordable materials, and gets you guys outside. Nothing releives stress more than the space of outside with the people you love.

3. Make Playdough (or buy some!)

So there are truly 2 ways you can go about this. Really, it depends on how your children are when you do certain activities! Doing anything kitchen-related with my children is an actual nightmare. So, making playdough WITH them is a huge no for me. It would be way to chaotic. Making playdough for them is a yes, yes, yes. IT makes a whole lot more play-dough than the containers you would buy at the store. Also, if your toddler decided to ingest it – at least you know what they’re ingesting (haha). Here’s my playdough recipe!

4. Nature Walks – Trails Near You

These are guaranteed to stimulate the senses of Mama and the little kids. It’s as simple as a Google search of “trails near me.”* Bonus points if you do a nature scavenger hunt. Here’s a printable one I made for my kids; they loved it!

5. Coloring Sheets

You can DIY these with a purchase of kinetic sand from just about anywhere. Walmart, Target, Michaels, Hobby Lobby, really any craft store can provide you with sand to throw in a bin and create an entire sensory scene. Use the same figurines and bins you used for water play only swap the water out for sand. They also have pre packaged sand kits on amazon to save you the DIY work – heres a fun one!

7. Bubble Blowing Outside

purchase on amazon!

Bubbles are extremeley affordable. $5 can afford you bubbles to last you and your kids the entire month. I always buy my childrens bubbles from the dollar store for $1 and it gurantees them occupied for 1 hour minimum. They love bubbles, abd beg me to bring them outside with us whne we go outside to play. Fun for them, and sit down/relaxation time in the sun for me. WIN/WIN! Buy your bubbles in bulk here and be set for the entire summer.

There you are mama! Fun afforadable summer activities for you and your favborite little people! Tag us on tikTok or instagram if you end up trying out one of these activities. It warms my ehart to see mamas and their babes enjoying the summer days.

Happy Summer Fun to you and yours!
